4. Apalachicola (75 min southwest)

5. Madison Blue Spring (75 min east)
An underrated state park spring. Smaller than Wakulla, less crowded, and perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Bright blue water, clear bottom, picnic areas. Best for: small groups, summer day trips. Time needed: half day.
6. Thomasville, Georgia (40 min north)
Historic Southern town with restored downtown, antique shops, and the famous Big Oak (a 300+ year old tree). Crosses the state line into Georgia, so prices can be cheaper. Best for: shopping, lunch, low-key historical interest. Time needed: 3–5 hours.
7. Maclay Gardens State Park (15 min in town)
Technically inside Tallahassee, but most visitors miss it. Sprawling formal gardens that peak in February–March (azalea and camellia season), trails, and Lake Hall for paddling. Best for: anyone, year-round. Time needed: 2 hours.
8. Cape San Blas (90 min southwest)
